The beginning
Ever since he was little, Alija loved being behind the camera. The moment his father brought out the camcorder, it was: “I want to film, I want to film!”

School project
As a teenager, Alija watched a lot of films and TV shows. The real starting shot came when he and his friends decided to make a film for a school project.
2023
During his apprenticeship and military service, the stress of life made Alija lose sight of film. When he was asked to be an extra on Landesverräter in 2023, he got a taste for it.
Today
Since then, Alija has regularly been part of productions, as an actor or on the crew, chasing his goal: a lifelong career in film.
December 2025
In December 2025, AFRAID came out – Alija's first short film of his own, written and directed under Skomorac Pictures.

About Alija
Alija Skomorac is a Swiss actor and filmmaker based in Zürich. Since 2023 he has worked on around twenty productions, from Swiss features like Hallo Betty to the Korean series You and Everything Else.

I love being in front of the camera. I've played leads in short films and commercials and had featured parts on TV. Before a take I want to understand what the scene is really about.

With Skomorac Pictures I make my own films. AFRAID was my first short: I wrote it, directed it, produced it, and did the edit and the grade myself. It came out in December 2025. Next up is Districts, a crime series I'm developing.

A lot of what I know, I learned on other people's sets. I've managed locations on short films, helped the locations team on a feature, and worked as runner and driver on Hotel Excelsior, Maloney and Eurotrash.

I edit and grade my own films. Cutting AFRAID myself changed how I shoot: I know which shots I'll need in the edit before we even start rolling.
